I hope you have taken something from at least a few of these thoughts that I have been posting.
I have and I am going to do my best to heed some of the advice given...I am determined to make improvements in my life on a daily basis.

"People are often unreasonable and self-centered, forgive them anyway. If you are honest, people may cheat you, be honest anyway. If you find happiness, people may be jealous, be happy anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow, do good anyway. If you give the world the best you have, it may never be enough, give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway."

Run in with the Police??? WHAT???

OK, I just HAVE to share this story. It's one that will give me a giggle for days ...weeks ...maybe months!

In the wee morning hours today (about 3:00 AM) my hubbs woke up as he always does. He quietly slipped out onto our porch for a smoke. As he was sitting there he could hear my daughters chattering away downstairs through an open window. He walked to the side of the house and tapped on the window. There was no response at all. He assumed they hadn't heard it and headed back into the house.

Being the joker that he is, he couldn't pass up an opportunity to scare the bejeezus out of them. He made his way into the basement and was going to just burst in on them ...BUT..then he heard them talking about going to see what had made the noise. (it had taken them that long to muster up the courage) LOL

When the hubbs heard that He slipped around the corner and pulled his robe up on his head like a hood....and he waited....Soon he saw Aub with her phone light on lighting her path....as she rounded the corner her light hit Barn's face...She let out 3 blood curdling screams and truly thought she need to change her pants...........LOL

Now that is a funny story even if it had been the end of it....BUT this story is NOT over...

We all went out on the porch and laughed and laughed over what had happened...no sooner had we all gone back inside, Carson stuck her head in our bedroom and said "There are cops next door!!" We told her to mind her business and go to bed...Then came the light tap on our front door...OH MY!!!! They had come to our house?? What the heck!! We were told that the neighbor heard Aubrey's screams and thought for sure something horrible was happening............There were 6 police cars in front of my house. When Aubrey and her dad explained what had gone on and apologised...They all walked away chuckling... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

HAPPY WEEKEND!!

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity...It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for another day."

"Enjoy who you are. Don’t hate yourself for what you aren’t."

 ~Anonymous~

This is just a simple thought, but when I read it I could relate to what it is saying. I am very critical of myself and I find myself wishing I could be more like this person or that person instead of looking at the good that is inside of me. This made me sit back and think about me and what kind of person I really am.

Am I perfect? well, no I'm not, I have a lot of flaws....But....I truly believe I have a good heart and that I try my best to treat people with love, respect and kindness. I don't always succeed in this but I really do try.

Today I am going to genuinely LOVE me!

A Very Special Birthday Wish!

26 years ago I received a beautiful gift and one of my dreams came true. I got to hold my sweet baby girl in my arms. We had tried for 2 years to fulfill our dream of a family. It was a difficult road and after 4 miscarriages I had almost given up.
I remember the day Aubrey was born like it was yesterday. Opening day of the deer hunt...LOL...kinda put a cramp in Barney's plans but, We were both so excited to have her here that Barney got over it pretty quickly.

She was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen!
Now she's a mother and when I watch her with Dylan I am so proud of her.
She is a wonderful mommy!!

Kelly has been practicing her makeup skills on her for her school competition
Look at those eyes!!
I Love you with all my heart Aubrey and I hope you have the best Birthday EVER!!

"Every second that you live you are never going to get back. You are never going to get to change what you said, didn't say, did, or didn't do. Live how you want to live. Act how you want to be remembered, because you never know how long or short you are going to be here."

~Emily Doberstein~

So true... from this day on, I am going to act as I want to be remembered. I have such great memories of my mom and dad...and the biggest thing that I feel when I think about them is how much they loved me. There was NEVER any doubt and that love is sometimes all that gets me through the rough times.

Love and Light to all!

"If you concentrate on finding whatever is good in every situation, you will discover that your life will suddenly be filled with gratitude, a feeling that nurtures the soul."
 ~Rabbi Harold Kushner~

Sometimes in life it's hard to be grateful for all the blessings you have. Life is so complicated and frustrating at times, but I believe if you really take a good look you will find an abundance of things to be grateful for. That is what I have been trying to do lately and I have found that my life is plum full of blessings that it's time I focus on.

I am grateful today

I received this story in an email and it touched my heart and I knew I had to share it as a thought for the day. I know it's a bit long but well worth the read.

IT'S WHAT YOU SCATTER

I was at the corner grocery store buying some early potatoes... I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily apprising a basket of freshly picked green peas.

I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes.

Pondering the peas, I couldn't help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me.

'Hello Barry, how are you today?'

'H'lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jus' admirin' them peas. They sure look good.'

'They are good, Barry. How's your Ma?'

'Fine. Gittin' stronger alla' time.'

'Good. Anything I can help you with?'

'No, Sir. Jus' admirin' them peas.''Would you like to take some home?' asked Mr. Miller.

'No, Sir. Got nuthin' to pay for 'em with.'

'Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas?'

'All I got's my prize marble here.'

'Is that right? Let me see it', said Miller.

'Here 'tis. She's a dandy.'

'I can see that. Hmm mmm, only thing is this one is blue and I sort of go for red. Do you have a red one like this at home?' the store owner asked.

'Not zackley but almost.'

'Tell you what. Take this sack of peas home with you and next trip this way let me look at that red marble'. Mr. Miller told the boy

'Sure will. Thanks Mr. Miller.'

Mrs. Miller, who had been standing nearby, came over to help me. With a smile she said, 'There are two other boys like him in our community, all three are in very poor circumstances. Jim just loves to bargain with them for peas, apples, tomatoes, or whatever. When they come back with their red marbles, and they always do, he decides he doesn't like red after all and he sends them home with a bag of produce for a green marble or an orange one, when they come on their next trip to the store.'

I left the store smiling to myself, impressed with this man. A short time later I moved to Colorado , but I never forgot the story of this man, the boys, and their bartering for marbles.

Several years went by, each more rapid than the previous one. Just recently I traveled to visit some old friends in that Idaho community and while I was there learned that Mr. Miller had died.

They were having his visitation that evening and my friends wanted to go, I agreed to accompany them. Upon arrival at the mortuary we fell into line to meet the relatives of the deceased and to offer whatever words of comfort we could.

Ahead of us in line were three young men. One was in an army uniform and the other two wore nice haircuts, dark suits and white shirts...all very professional looking. They approached Mrs. Miller, standing composed and smiling by her husband's casket.

Each of the young men hugged her, kissed her on the cheek, spoke briefly with her and moved on to the casket. Her misty light blue eyes followed them as, one by one; each young man stopped briefly and placed his own warm hand over the cold pale hand in the casket. Each left the mortuary awkwardly, wiping his eyes.

Our turn came to meet Mrs. Miller. I told her who I was and reminded her of the story from those many years ago and what she had told me about her husband's bartering for marbles. With her eyes glistening, she took my hand and led me to the casket.

'Those three young men who just left were the boys I told you about.

They just told me how they appreciated the things Jim 'traded' them. Now, at last, when Jim could not change his mind about color or size.....they came to pay their debt.'

'We've never had a great deal of the wealth of this world,' she confided, 'but right now, Jim would consider himself the richest man in Idaho ..'

With loving gentleness she lifted the lifeless fingers of her deceased husband... Resting underneath were three exquisitely shined red marbles.

The Moral:

We will not be remembered by our words, but by our kind deeds.
Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath.

Today I wish you a day of ordinary miracles ~

An unexpected phone call from an old friend....
Green stoplights on your way to work....
The fastest line at the grocery store....
A good sing-along song on the radio...
Your keys found right where you left them.

IT'S NOT WHAT YOU GATHER, BUT WHAT YOU SCATTER THAT TELLS WHAT KIND OF LIFE YOU HAVE LIVED!

Fun time had by all

It was the Fire Station Open House last night. Kelly....being the great aunt that she is walked Jace and Dylan across the street to check it all out. She didn't take the camera with her (DANG IT) so we didn't get any pictures of Jace. They absolutely LOVED it! They got a bag full of fun stuff and as they came walking back across the street they were all grinning ear to ear!!

Carson and Jace had to leave.. Dylan hadn't got his fill just yet. This time Kelly grabbed the camera before taking Dyl back over for some more fun. Then when PaPa got home from work he insisted he take him over just one last time. He sat on the steps while he waited for PaPa to get ready to take him back over.
The excitement was oozing out of him as he sat with his hands on his knees tapping his feet and fingers....it was so hard for him to wait.....LOL
I asked him if he wanted to be a fireman for Halloween and his response was " NO...I'm gonna be the fire truck!"
HAHAHA Damn I Love my boys!
