Touching Story

A little boy came home and found his mom crying "Why are you crying?" he asked his Mom. "Because I'm a mother" she told him. "I don't understand," he said. His mom just hugged him and said, "You never will." Later the little boy asked his father why Mother seemed to cry for no reason. "All mothers cry for no reason," was all his dad could say. The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why mothers cry. One night, he had a dream. In his dream, he called God on the telephone. When God came to the phone the man asked, "God, why do mothers cry so easily?" God answered him, "My son, you see, when I made mothers, I knew they had to be special. I made their shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to give comfort. I gave them an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times come from their children and mates. I gave them a hardiness that allows them to keep going when everyone else gives up, and to take care of their families through sickness and fatigue without complaining. I gave them the sensitivity to love their children under all circumstances, even when their child has hurt them very badly. This same sensitivity helps them to make a child's boo-boo feel better and helps them share a teenager's anxieties and fears. I also gave them a tear to shed. It's theirs, exclusively, to use whenever needed. It's their only weakness. It is a tear for mankind.

Going to Florida

Well Aubrey made a lot of phone calls to get prices for moving her things to Florida. Everywhere she called it was going to cost to much. We started brainstorming ideas and made a few more calls. Now the plan is Barney and I are going to be driving her and Dylan cross country then flying home. WHAT AN ADVENTURE!! It's going to be a fairly quick trip with no time for much sight seeing, but I think it will be nice spending some extra time with her and Dylan. Plus we will be able to see for ourselves where she will be living and make sure she is going to be okay. I'm having an extremely hard time with all of this but I'm also excited for her to get out in the world and live her life. Aubrey is my oldest daughter and all the firsts with her seemed extra hard on me. I remember when she was 4 and she went across the street to play. I sat at the kitchen table and cried as I watched her. I just couldn't believe she was old enough to cross the street and play with friends. Her first day of school, I walked her to her classroom. She was so scared and didn't want me to leave her. It took everything in me to walk away from her and leave her behind. Now She is all grown up and a mother herself. I want her to live her own life, but I wanted it done a little closer to home. She has always lived at home and I've grown used to having her and Dylan around ALWAYS. I know she will be happy. Nick is a great guy and a wonderful father. I keep telling myself they will come visit but, with the economy the way it is who knows when that visit will be.

Well it's official, I no longer have any teenagers. My baby girl is 20 years old today! I have been thinking about what I could say to her to let her know just how much she means to me. She was my surprise baby and what a wonderful surprise she was. She was born February 7, 1989 at the McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden. She was only 5lbs and 18 inches long. My tiny little angel. just want to share a story about her, so bare with a mom with the need to ramble on. She hardly ever cried and when she was a tiny baby I went to visit my best friend and sister in law Diane. She was sleeping in on Diane's bed when I decided it was time to head home. I gathered up Aubrey who was 3 and Kelly who was 1 and got them loaded in the car. I said my good byes and was on my way. Now mind you, I only lived a mile or two from Diane. I pulled into my garage and got Aubrey and Kelly out of the car. The phone was ringing when I walked into the house. I answered and it was Diane asking if I forgot something. Oh MY GOSH!!! I left my sweet little sleeping angel at Diane's!! Good thing she was so little or I might have scarred her for life.

Carson Is a very straight forward person who I love with all my heart. She tends to pick on her poor old mom and dad regularly but, I wouldn't want it any other way. She has one of the most tender hearts I have ever seen. I want you to know Carson that I am so proud of you. You are a wonderful daughter. When I watch you with your sweet son Jace it makes me beam with pride. You are a great mom!!

WOW I'm OLD!!

I am getting so old!!! 44 yesterday.

Looking in the mirror I see a few more wrinkles, a few more gray hairs and maybe a little more general sagging. I feel the same way I did when I was a perky little 18 year old but, I do have a few creeks and aches throughout my old chubby body that I'm sure do not belong.

I got an email from a friend that had all this news from the year I was born so I thought I would post it. It's kind of interesting.

Bloody Sunday - On March 9th 1965 800 African Americans marched in Montgomery, Alabama to protest not being allowed to register to vote. On the orders of Governor George Wallace they were met by state and county law enforcement who gassed and beat the peaceful demonstrators with clubs and bullwhips. The film and photos made such an impression upon America that by March 25th, Martian Luther King called for another march in which 25,000 people including black and white celebrities participated and the nation changed.

On February 21, 1965, Malcolm X was assassinated during a speech at the Audobon Ballroom in Manhattan. Talmadge Hayer, Norman Butler, and Thomas Johnson were convicted. Any direct involvement of the Nation of Islam is still unresolved.

Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones becomes the song of the year and subsequently voted by Rolling Stone Magazine the song of the decade and the second greatest song of all time.

Good Movies 1965 Doctor Zhivago - Following the success of Lawrance of Arabia, Director David Lean creates another big movie for the big screen. From the novel by Boris Pasternak starring Omar Sharif, Julie Christie, Geraldine Chaplin, Rod Steiger and Alec Guinness. A Patch of Blue - Produced, written and directed by Guy Green. Starring Sidney Poitier, Elizabeth Hartman and Shelly Winters who won an Academy Award for her portrayal of the nasty racist mother in this interracial love story. The scene of Poitier and Hartman kissing was taken out of the movie when it played in theaters in the Southern United States. The Pawnbroker - Sidney Lumet directs Rod Steiger as a New York pawn broker gone sour as a survivor of the Holocaust. The first major movie to deal with that Nazi Horror. Steiger should have won the Oscar. Thunderball - The fourth Bond film had no celebrity leading lady and no great song but its water oriented special effects made it the biggest Bond film thus far. Starring Sean Connery, Claudine Auger, Adolfo Celi and Luciana Paluzzi. For a Few Dollars More - The second of Sergio Leone's "Dollar" spaghetti western trilogy. Starring Clint Eastwood, Lee van Cleef, Gian Maria Volontè and Klaus Kinski. Like the previous movie, Fistfull of Dollars it did not appear in America until 1967. A Thousand Clowns - Jason Robards plays Murry the man-child comedy writer, child actor Barry Gordon plays the adult role, Barbra Harris is the love interest and Martin Balsam wins an Academy Award as the sensible big brother.

NFL Championship: Green Bay Packers won 23-12 over the Cleveland Browns. With 4 inches of snow on Lambeau Field, Paul Hourning runs in a touchdown to foil Cleveland with the top rusher in the NFL, Jim Brown.

Dylans Utah Birthday Party

Well Aubrey made it home

They took Dylan to the mall and his daddy took him on the carousel. Dylan of course loved it and I'm pretty sure his daddy did too.

At the airport Dyaln didn't want to leave his daddy. Aubrey said he grabbed Nick's shirt and held on tight.

We got to the airport and waited and waited for them to arrive home. It was so good to see them. I keep wondering how i will cope when they move there for good. I'm sooooooo attached to them and have grown used to having them around all the time. I barely made it trough the two weeks..
