I didn't think it would happen to me...

It seems like everyone around me has come down with the crud...I have been lucky and seemed to make it through without getting it.....YAY me!!

Then...when I least expected it I woke up Monday morning coughing, sniffling, fever, body aches. I have spent the week cuddled up with tissue hanging out of my nose. I found a home remedy on pinterest and had everything needed to try it. It really does help with the cough and congestion so I thought I would share it along with the link

MAGGIE’S COUGH REMEDY
¼ teaspoon Cayenne
¼ teaspoon Ginger
1 Tablespoon Cider Vinegar
2 Tablespoon Water
1 Tablespoon Honey

Dissolve cayenne and ginger in cider vinegar and water. Add honey and shake well. Take 1 Tablespoon as needed for cough.
Note: This is potent albeit watery syrup. It also doesn’t dissolve perfectly. Always shake well before using.
If you make this in small batches as the recipe is written, there is no need to refrigerate.
If you prefer, you may refrigerate this. It keeps as long as you need it. I like to make small batches (it is so easy to mix up.) and use it up in a just a few days.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: This remedy and dosage are for adults. I have no personal experience giving this to children, and cannot recommend it for children. Many have reported that they have had great success administering the remedy in smaller doses to their kids.

But remember, honey should NEVER be given in any form to children under the age of one year, due to the risk of infant botulism–hence the remedy should never, under any circumstances , be given to an infant.

I also found another remedy that I just may try if I don't get feeling better soon
Homemade Decongestant Ingredients
1 c. honey
1 c. lemon juice
5-7 radishes
      1 sm. red onion
6 garlic cloves

Put all ingredients into blender. Blend then strain into jar. Store in refrigerator.

Hope you are all staying warm and healthy!!

Welcome 2013

I have been reflecting on the past year, thinking of what knowledge I gained. It began with smiles and giggles but ended with tears and fears. There were many lessons and life changing events. I am so overwhelmed with all that has happened, at times I have slipped into the pit of despair so far that I have stayed in my pj's days at a time.

ENOUGH OF THE PITY PARTY

It's a New Year!  I will keep trying to keep a positive attitude!

As this new year begins I am going to work hard and will overcome the obstacles and pit falls that were 2012. I am determined to make this a good year, a happy year....a year full of love, laughter, and joy.

To 2013, all I can say is...
BRING IT ON!!
I am ready to face a new future with HOPE for better tomorrows

Wishing you all a Happy New Year full of LOVE and LIGHT
