Just a little update on Aubrey

Well, Aubrey's sinus surgery is scheduled for June 6th. She is a little nervous but is excited to be able to breath again. Her sinus cavities are totally blocked with polyps and cysts. The doctor said this surgery is usually about 30 minutes but because hers is so severe he's estimating 2-3 hours.

The Neurologist says her brain is still swollen, she had to go in for another spinal tap to drain more fluid. The pressure was higher than when she had her first one done. He has diagnosed her with Pseudo tumor Cerebri which occurs when the pressure inside your skull (intracranial pressure) increases for no obvious reason. Symptoms mimic those of a brain tumor, but no tumor is present. The increased intracranial pressure associated with pseudo tumor cerebri can cause swelling of the optic nerve and result in vision loss. Medications often can reduce this pressure, but in some cases, surgery is necessary.

Nick is trying to get things squared away at home so he can come out here for the surgery. I really hope he's able to, Aubrey's face just lit up at the thought of him being able to be here with her through this even if it will only be for a short time.
